CLS Explorer PJ Party

For our Creative Life Scrapbooking PJ Party tonight I thought of a ton of great uses for the Creative Memories Explorer collection–it’s full of outdoor artwork, fun nature designs, summery phrases, and more! Eventually I settled on designing some camping-themed printables using my delightful Artisan software (a must for any digital scrapper, IMO): a b-day party invitation, and two sizes of tags/cards that can be used in lots of different ways!

IMG_20190425_220027First, the invitations . . .

I designed these with 4 to a page, and they have the brown flannel paper as a background with a cream-colored box outlined in red for the writing on each one. I used one of the pre-made elements for “camping”, layered a couple other pre-made elements for the flag in the bottom corner, and created my own tent.

For the tent, I started with two small rectangles of the green flannel paper, darkened one piece slightly (the back/inside part of the tent), and then cut both out with Artisan’s shape cutting tools. It took several tries before I got them to the shapes I liked, but in the end I think I got a cute little tent!

Last, I added the text for the invitation, leaving spaces for you to fill out after they’re printed. An old green CM pen matched nicely for writing in the details on the examples I show here. ūüôā

Next, the large tent cards . . .

I also designed these with 4 to a page, with the intention of folding them in half to stand on their own after they’re cut out. They have the same cream and brown box for writing (though smaller than the invitations) but with the dark wood grain paper background and some stripes and other embellishments in the lower corner of each. Each of the 4 cards on the sheet has a different design.

I used my as food labels (written on with black Sharpie), but you could also use these to identify different party stations, as place cards, or in lots of other ways!

These ones are designed similar to the large tent cards and could be used in the same ways. I decided to punch the tops of mine with the Essentials 4-way punch (the 2-hole side) and use it as a “thank you” gift tag instead.

These ones are about half the size of the large tags, and there are 8 to a page. The design is very similar, replacing the wood background with the map paper instead and eliminating the border stripe to allow a little more room for writing on the small cream rectangle.

Blog Hop! Turning Your Card Kit Bonus Pieces into Cute Borders

Happy Blog Hop Day, friends!!!

I always love seeing the projects my fellow Creative Life Scrapbookers post on these magical days when we blog hop, so I hope you’re following along and have come from Candace’s page. How do you like this season’s ideas so far? Feeling inspired??

XOXO Card KitThis month I was thinking about how to use my bonus pieces from a couple of CM’s new card kits, and I decided that instead of making more cards (like I might usually do) I was going to make some fun borders with them instead.

Just Because card kit AHave you seen the XOXO and Just Because card kits from Creative Memories yet??? If not, I recommend them highly! I especially love the foiling in the XOXO kit and the shiny gem stickers in the Just Because kit!

You can get these card kits and more on my website now!

XOXO Card Kit Bonus Piece Borders

IMG_20190223_162407This first two-page border used:

  • Bonus pieces and leftover stickers from the XOXO Card Kit
  • Pink & Bronze Shimmer Cardstock
  • A sheet of old foiled paper from the CM Divine Power Palette
  • 12-inch Straight Trimmer
  • Scallop Border Punch
  • Repositionable Tape Runner
  • Foam Squares

To get the double scallop, I just punched one side of the bronze paper and then trimmed the strip to about 2.5″ wide and lined it up to punch the other side in the same pattern as the first side. It took a bit of practice, but it wasn’t too hard at all! I also had to cut some of the foam squares into smaller strips so I could pop up the words for “LOVE” and “hello”, but besides that it’s pretty much just a cut-and-paste border.

  • 12-inch Straight Trimmer
  • Scallop Burst Border Punch
  • Brown Dual-tip Pen
  • A few of the gem stickers from the Just Because Card Kit
  • Repositionable Tape Runner
  • Foam Squares

Bonus Cards from the Sending Love Kit

From the August product release, I’m especially excited about the new All That Glitters Card Kit¬†(I’ve ordered some that will be arriving tomorrow–YAY!) and its 170+ EXTRA PIECES because I TOTALLY LOVE creating more from the great kits Creative Memories sells. As I was thinking of that earlier this week, I realized I hadn’t yet used my extras from the Sending Love Card Kit, even though I made those cards when they first came out several months ago. PROJECT INSPIRATION!!!

Happy Album: Extra Pages from Kits 1 & 2

This week I wanted to show you what I’m doing with borders and more in my¬†Happy Album,¬†along with a couple of helpful tips for using the border maker system!

After I made the pages from Happy Album Kits #1 and #2 (with slight modification to give me maximum leftovers, of course), I was able to make 3 extra 2-page spreads from the extra pieces:

  1. Half-and-half “wallpapered” spread with a “Family” border crossing both pages
  2. “Me & You” spread with two different types of borders
  3. Hearts and dots spread
